Reader Poll Replies:
I would prefer the pool to stay open 24/7 because sometimes it is
better to be swimming at midnight than loosing my money in the casino.

Swimming pools do not attract me much as the years continue to make
my body less flattering, however, I see no reason why it should not be
open around the clock, it is Vegas you know. Lauren L. St Louis

No, I do not think they should be open beyond sundown. We only go to
the pool in the early morning and prefer to play in the casinos in the
evening. Many people may like to sit by the pool after the sun sets and
there is shade in most pool areas in the daytime as well. Guests with
children tend to use the pool during the early day and afternoon and can
be a deterent to some. Certainly the more exciting place to be after
sunset is on the strip. That's why we come from Canada every year. Julie

Vegas is a 24/7 town and at least during the summer they need to have
pools available 24/7. That is why we go to Vegas! Larry

They don't need to be open 24 hrs/day, but they definitely need to be
open until 11 pm at which time guests can hit the casinos or their
air-conditioned rooms. Margaret Russell Colorado Springs,

No. Do not open after midnight. Reopen at 6 a.m. First out of towner
who drowns in a casino pool will produce publicity we don't want.

I personally would like to see the casino pools open 24 hours. I
don't think it would add expenses to the casinos and would be a big plus
for the guests. I would be more likely to stay at the casino instead of
a time share or hotel. Ed Schulz Urbana,OH
no, they should not. norm monson bremerton wa
24 hours is a bit much, but perhaps until 10:00 pm. I understand it
is hard to patrol and monitor the pools, but it seems the staffing
requirements would be offset by the money made at poolside bars, and
potential "Special Events" like movie nights, or live bands. The
greastest obstacle seems to be staffing since the power and water
requirements already exist even if the pools are empty. With moderate
marketing and promotion, it seems like the resorts could reap some new $
from an unsed source. Phil Baker North Las Vegas, NV
Yes ,I do think the pools Should stay open 24 hours a day. If they
have to close for cleanning, maybe close from 4am tell about 8am.Las
Vegas is a 24 hour town. With the weather they have, yes the pools
should stay open. Maybe all the pools could have pool side gameing.I
think that is why they close them anyway, to get the people back inside
to gamble. Steve sedalia,mo
No, I don't think there is a need to be open 24/7 However, I Do think
that pool(s) should have restricted hours for kids. Example: I would
love to spend a couple of hours with my wife, lounging next to the pool,
drinks in our hands, without hearing the voices of kids arguing with
each other, splashing each other, and acting like they are at the city
pool, instead of Vegas. I just don't see myself going to the pool at 3
in the morning. Steven Tillinger Parma, Ohio
The Las Vegas hotel pools should be open 24 hours. The sun is to hot
during the day and the pools have way to many children. You can do
anything you want in the city at any time of the day or night except
swim. There have been so many times I have wanted to swim but had to
wait till pool was open or it had already closed. I thought I was the
only one who felt this way, thanks for this poll! Lois

Yes.....it would be great too cool off anytime at the pool. and less
people would be sunburned. The casinos want to keep you indoors
gambling...not at the pool tanning or partying. There could be nightime
pool parties...with music I know it would be a great hit with guests.
maybe make the nighttime pool activities for adults only. It would be
another
fun story to tell about vegas if the pools were open later or 24hours!

Can You say Moonlight Pool Party? There could be so many nighttime
themed events at the pool that I think the hotel/casinos are missing out
on. It doesn't have to be open 24/7..but a pool closing at 6pm in the
summer is ridiculous. I would say 9am-11pm Sun-Thurs..Fri-Sat 9am-2am.

No way too much of a chance for drunk people drowning. Craig

Absolutely they should. At least some places like the Nugget have hot
tub hours until 2pm. Rodd Rogers Neosho/Missouri
Yes Yes Yes No worry about getting sunburn No sqinting in the
bright sun. William Demmy Lebanon
I strongly feel that swimming pools should remain open around the
clock. This is a great relief for stress, heat, and a big feature of a
lot of peoples vacation desires. Not everyone has their own pool at
home, and going on vacation means getting to swim!! Lots of people
prefer swimming at night, it's not as hot or bright and it offers a
romantic setting. Perhaps evening swims could be for adults only! Karen
